Buguruni School for the Deaf

Back in 2010 our lenten appeal was to raise funds for Buguruni School for the deaf in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.  The school captured our hearts and so 19 of us travelled to Tanzania to carry out the work ourselves. We renovated three large dormitories with 34 beds in each, providing mosquito nets and a new mattress for every child. We know we made a difference.

Since then some of us have returned to Buguruni on a number of occasions and we are grateful to the congregation of St Columba’s for their continued support and prayers. A number of the children are sponsored by members of the congregation – and their special friend or rafiki means the world to them.  For more information please look at the Tanzanear website http://www.tanzanear.orgor contact Judith Roberts on judithroberts63@aol.com or Susan Pym on susanpym@yahoo.co.uk
