The Creche

It has long been a tradition at the heart of St Columba’s to provide a crèche facility for children from 0 -4 to enable their parents to attend the morning service. A well-attended Crèche is held every Sunday from September to July for the under 4’s. The creche is available from 10.30 until the end of the service. It is supervised by a rota of volunteers; some are parents or grandparents of the children who attend the crèche, others are members of the congregation who wished to help in some way. The creche operates a sign in/tag system which ensures children are given back to the correct adult. The crèche is greatly appreciated by the parents in allowing them to maintain church attendance and also meet other parents at this busy stage in their lives. The children enjoy their time in the crèche and are welcome whether regulars or visitors. Note: In line with Church of Scotland Policy, all adults who work with children are subject to the checks and procedures outlined in the church’s Safeguarding Policy.

Generations of families have started their St Columba’s journey in the crèche where they can meet other parents at the same stage and establish lasting friendships and many of the older volunteers continue to contribute because of their happy memories of those days.
