The Reverend Angus MacLeod was inducted as Minister of St Columba’s, Pont Street and St Andrew’s, Newcastle in June 2012, following sixteen years of service as a chaplain in the British Army. His family roots are on the Isle of Skye and Durham, in the North East of England. He studied at the University of St Andrews before travelling and working in America, London, Milan and Romania. Prior to ministry he worked in advertising and teaching. He returned to St Andrews to study Divinity before completing his training with churches in North Carolina and Glasgow.

He is married to Dr Liz Brutus. Their daughter Olivia was born in 2011. He is a sports enthusiast and lover of the sea and the hills. His great grandfather was the first minister of St Columba’s.

Andrea is a native of Germany where she went to school. Andrea studied Protestant Theology in Germany (at Bonn, Tübingen and Wuppertal) and studied Systematic Theology, New Testament and Arabic Culture at St Andrews University.
Andrea was ordained in the Church of Scotland in 1997 and was Minister of Birsay, Harray and Sandwick in Orkney from 2001 to 2013.
Andrea is married to Neil, a Chartered Accountant with his own firm in Orkney. Neil plans to retire this year and move down to London. Andrea and Neil have three adult children. Andrea and Neil share a great love of music.


Ben Lewis- Smith 

Benedict Lewis-Smith was organ scholar at The Queen’s College, Oxford (2007–2010) and prior to this was awarded a place as a specialist musician and organ scholar at Wells Cathedral School, Somerset.

He combines his role as Director of Music at St Columba’s with a substantial freelance career in London including vocal coaching, accompanying and conducting.

He has broadcast on BBC radio 3, and recently recorded on the digital label Resonus Classics. Recent performances include recitals in the Victoria International Arts Festival, Gozo, and a concert tour of Buenos Aires, where he delivered classes in English song to the students at the Departamento de Artes Musicales y Sonoras. He currently conducts the office choirs of BNY Mellon, Fidelity Investments and The News Corporation.

Previously Director of Music at St. George’s School, Windsor Castle he now works with choirs at Westminster School and Hill House International Preparatory School in London. He also performs alongside Julian Collings as the Oxbridge Organ Duo, with recent performances in Kristiansand Cathedral (Norway) and St George’s Basilica (Gozo). They are soon to release a CD with Regent Records “Firebird: virtuosic works for organ duet” www.oxbridgeorganduo.com

Will Mason

Will Mason 

William Mason was born in Cheltenham in July 1991 and was Head Chorister at Gloucester Cathedral under the direction of Andrew Nethsingha.  He was later awarded a Sixth Form Organ Scholarship at Cheltenham College and spent his gap year as Organ Scholar at Sherborne School and Abbey. William studied music at Royal Holloway, University of London whilst also holding the post of Organ Scholar.  As an undergraduate, William played the organ live on BBC Radio 3, recorded for Hyperion Records and toured the USA, France and the Baltic States with the Choir of Royal Holloway.  In 2015 William undertook postgraduate study in Choral Conducting at Cambridge University.  During his time in Cambridge he held the position of Organist for the St John’s Voices, including accompanying the choir on their tour of Vienna in December 2015. William received guidance in conducting from Christopher Robinson CVO CBE and regularly directed the Choir of Downing College, Cambridge including a tour of Toronto in the Summer of 2016. William has studied the organ with Thomas Trotter, Alexander Ffinch, Rupert Gough and Stephen Farr and improvisation with David Briggs and Martin Baker.  Recent recital engagements have included St Bride’s Fleet Street, Westminster Cathedral and St John’s College, Cambridge.  William has worked on the Eton Choral Courses as an accompanist and at Repton School as Organist and Teacher of Music.  He is currently Organist at Bradfield College and Assistant Organist at St Columba’s, Pont Street, London.   In April, William will work as the accompanist for the National Youth Training Choir of Wales.

Lucy has been with St Columba’s Church as Office Administrator since 2014.  Lucy has had a varied career working in sport, pharmaceuticals, finance and now the church.

Lucy has a daughter called Betsy who takes up most of her free time. Her husband is currently serving in the Royal Air Force.
