Peas and Potatoes

Potatoes & Peas – The Night Shelter

The 2017/18 Night Shelter at St. Columba’s starts next week., and it is time to think about potatoes and peas! The cost of a 25kilo bag of potatoes, which will do two Sundays, varies between £7.50 and £8.50. The same cost, will pay for peas for two Sundays. This forms part of the three course supper that is

prepared by a number of volunteers who offer their Sunday evenings to cook, serve and talk with the guests.

We sleep and feed 35 homeless guests inside, and feed between 20/25 more folk outside. The budget for food from GLASSDOOR is small and anything we can do as a congregation to help with the cost is greatly appreciated. If you would like to “sponsor” the purchase of potatoes or peas, or both, please pass your contribution to the church office. (Cheques payable to St. Columba’s Hospitality Committee.) Any surplus money contributes towards a “festive” meal on

Christmas Eve, Hogmanay, and of course a Burns Supper in January 2018 which is much appreciated. The Night Shelter is always seeking additional cooks to join the rota. It is not cordon bleu cooking and you would not be thrown in at the deep end.  If YOU can help, please contact Judith Roberts, Night Shelter

Co-ordinator, at or via the church office – telephone: 020 7584 2321. Thank you. Ben Gourlay, Convener of Hospitality Committee
